The Ummah Wellbeing
We work together to support our community
Ummah Welfare Trust is an organization in the UK whose main focus is supporting elderly people in the Somali community.. Established in 2001, the ummah body is driven by several key Islamic principles like generosity, empathy, and selflessness, which aim to create a better life for humans. This article discusses the various key services that Ummah provides to the needy and the general structure of the society.

Hospital Visit
One key challenge to human life is maintaining optimal health, which is very sensitive as people frequently fall short of it. Due to the problems that people face daily, they are prone to several diseases that pose a threat to their well-being. Lack of food, and mental stress are some key factors that lead to poor health. In light of that, Ummah tries to provide viable solutions to these victims with their families, giving them hope for a better future. Ummah Welfare trust, we arrange regular checkups for members in the hospital as we arrange visits and provide them with spiritual encouragement. During the visits, we provide them with the holy books and a prayer mat to help them in their spiritual journey. Moreover, we purchase for them any necessary equipment and accessories from outside. As Ummah Welfare Trust, we also believe in the benefits of happiness and positive moods and arrange various entertainment packages for the victims. For instance, we provide them with some videotapes and lectures which, despite being entertaining, also add some knowledge.
Taking Part In Funerals
As a norm, the Islamic faith and the general conscience of man seek to value people and therefore give them a befitting sendoff whenever they depart to the next world. As Ummah, we participate in the burial proceedings and the overall event of a member’s death. The act is per our mission of alleviating poverty and suffering globally. The trust takes part in the sendoff in several ways, like assisting the deceased family emotionally and materialistically. As Ummah, we offer contributions in monetary form and also in the form of other accessories that will lead to a smooth transition for the family generally. As members and friends in the Ummah society, we form a committee that will oversee the funeral proceedings and which will make the necessary arrangements for the sendoff. Part of the group’s function is to pool together the donations of members and no members of the trust. The committee also encourages others to contribute towards the cost of a member’s burial in any way they can manage.
Home Visits For The Elderly
As Ummah Welfare Trust, we acknowledge the importance and significance of the older generation to the society. Therefore, we try to treat them with the dignity and affection they deserve. As an organization, we try to set the foundation for generations to come, and the older adults being primary to our vision, need to be treated accordingly. Families often view the older group as a nuisance and take them to the homes for the older adults to get rid of what they view as a burden. The act of neglecting older men and women in homes for the aged directly influences their health both physically and mentally.Per this, we arrange regular visits to older adults at their original homes or homes for the elderly and offer any support we can manage. For instance, we assist them in cleaning their houses, shopping on their behalf and encouraging them when necessary. To make the visits more genuine and strengthen the bond, we arrange member visits that will match their age and interest. For example, if the older man or woman is religious, we take some familiar church members of their age bracket with us. On the other hand, the aged also seek some form of entertainment time, and we provide them with a range of fun activities like chess and take them outdoors for short tours or shopping.
